His excellency, the Executive Governor of Yobe state,Hon Mai Mala Buni CON (Chiroman Gujba)  has today received the leadership of the Academic staff union of University ( ASUU) Yobe chapter who paid him a courtesy call  at Government House Damaturu. The team was led by its chairman, Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim Karage.

Welcoming the team, Governor Mai Mala, who was ably represented by his Deputy, Hon Idi Barde Gubana explained that his administration is committed to addressing issues relating to the union amidst competing demands.
In a statement issued by Hussaini Mai Suleh 
press Secretary to Yobe Deputy Governor, said that, Buni  informed them  that government will continue to give priority attention to the state - owned versity, the yobe state university,inorder to enhance its academic and physical development.

He appealed to ASUU to remain calm and continue to engage with the government, while his administration works out modelities for amicable response on issues raised by the members.

He called for mutual understanding between the government and the union. He stressed that one of the objectives of the union is to organise and represent the interest of the academic staff of the state university, ensuring just and proper condition of service ,not fighting with the government or authority.

Earlier speaking,the ASUU  chairman, Yobe chapter,Dr.Ahmad Ibrahim Karage, said that they were at  Government House to advocate for better funding of the state university in order to enhance conducive and better atmosphere for effective teaching, learning and research.

While appreciating the Mai Mala led administration for giving scholarship to students especially law students. He appealed to the government to look into other  issues affecting the University. 
He expressed satisfaction with Government  for giving scholarship to the family of less privileged  to study within and outside the country.
