We Assures Permanent Peace Between Farmers and Herders in Yobe - Securities

The assurance was given today at a joint security council meeting at Government House Damaturu. The meeting was chaired by Governor Buni, ably represented by his deputy, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana (Wazirin Fune).
The expanded security meeting was held together with the heads of security Agencies, Emirs of Ngelzarma and Jajere together with the  local government chairmen and leaders of MIYETTI ALLAH  respectively.

The Governor disclosed that the security meeting was an extraordinary and expanded emergency meeting directed by Governor Mai Mala Buni CON, to review and analyze the security situation accross the state and to ensure that  citizens in Yobe state are safe and their property is adequately  protected.

He further explained that harvesting period usually comes with crisis  and there is need to keep a close watch so as to avoid clash between farmers and herders, more especially with the bumper harvest recorded this season.
Members interacted and came up with measures to bring a lasting and sustainable solution on the perennial clashes between farmers and herders in the state.

Security is the most top priority of the present administration under the purposeful leadership of His excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni.

He commended the Security agencies for their effort in ensuring peace, law and order in the state.

The meeting equally appreciated the effort of traditional rulers and  community leaders in conflict resolution in their various domains.

The Deputy said as part of the effort to enhance security, government has donated  two (2) Toyota Hillux out of his convoy vehicles to facilitate the movement of security on surveillance and health workers on immunization in Fune and Gujba Local government areas.
The Deputy Governor, urged the traditional rulers to maintain their oldest traditions and strategies for monitoring the movement of suspicious elements in thier respective domains.

Shortly after the meeting, the special adviser on security matters, Bridgedier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd) briefed members of the press on the outcome of the meeting. He added by assuring that Security agencies would intensify surveillance and patrol activities in their areas to stop the menace of herders clashes and other criminal activities.

Similarly, the meeting agreed on the following resolutions
1. Utilisation and implementation of conflicts resolution mechanism 
2.intensify surveillance and prompt response to security matters
3.sensitazation engagement and enlightenment campaign
4.proactive measure by the stakeholders and community leaders.
5.use of technology and anergy for the purpose of intelligence gathering
7.The use of illicit drugs among the youths require collective effort to address or reduce.
8. Establishment of water point for rearers 
9. Re- establishment of  grazing reserves
10. Control of migrants or seasonal visitors from neighbouring countries to safeguard and protect famers from escalating malicious attacks.

The Governor appealed to the people of the State to continue  supporting the Security agencies and provide necessary information so as to continue enjoying the relative peace in the state.

The speaker Yobe state House of assembly, Secretary to the state Government and special Adviser on Security matters also attended the meeting together with  Emirs of Jajere and Ngelzarma who contributed immensely to map out the possible solution.

Other  head of Security agencies that were present at the meeting are,  sector 2 commandant operation lafiya dole, Commissioner of Police Yobe State Command, represented, Director of Security services,  Commandant Nigeria Security and Civil defences corp  and  staff from Cabinet  and Security Governor's office.
