NUJ, CSOs Dialogue On Cluster Safe School Initiative In Yobe

A group of civil society Organisations (CSOs) alongside Yobe state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) have on Friday, dialogued on ways to enhance elementary, basic and tertiary education in the North- east through advocacy for increased investment in education and eulogies of support from all stakeholders.
Addressing the public shortly after the roundtable with correspondents of prints and electronic media outlets in Damaturu, the Executive Director, Northeast Youth Initiative for Development (NEYIF), Comr. Dauda Mohammed said, "The media roundtable engagement on cluster safe school initiative in Yobe state is to talk on the issues of domestication and adoption of national policy on safe-care and balance pre-school in Yobe". He hinted that the project was funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through palladium.
According to him, "Yobe is one of the state that experienced precarious attacks on schools which necessitate why it should adopt the policy introduced by the national education cluster to safe and secure schools and ensure that all learning edifice in the state are hitch-free for children to attend the school without fair of intimidation or attacks.
Mr. Mohammed, who further emphasizes the need for teachers to live up to the expectations equally asked for a continued collaboration among key stakeholders while on specific notes, identifying the roles of the press, parents and opinion leaders as great enabler to achieving the set goal.
During the roundtable, discussions went on how the media would go about advocating and reporting happenings while simultaneously holding the government to be responsible for actualizing the safe school initiative
and make provisions for exhaustive budgetary allocations among other executions for the education sector."
The tail was a paper presentation with a theme: Addressing School Safety Challenges in Yobe, Role of Media on Cluster Safe School Initiative in Yobe and Enhancing Safe and secured Education for All.
