The Nigerian military force in Yobe is determined to control security challenges through public relations. The sector commander, sector 2 joint task force, North East operation Hadin Kai, Brigadier General MCE Ejike revealed this when he paid a courtesy call to the secretariat of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), along Gashu"a road, Damaturu. 

The sector commander said, the reason behind the visit is to familiarize himself with the NUJ. This according to him is important as his predecessor left him a message to operate a team work with journalists, for a successful security operations. He said journalists play a vital role in security by providing useful information and therefore, he decided to improve and sustain a good public relations which is a catalyst for peace and development. He said the military relations with the public is yielding good result. 

Responding, the chairman Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) , Comrade Rajab Mohammed Ismail appreciated the sector commander, saying it was his second visit to the NUJ even though the visit is the most official. He said the commander has recognized the impact of Journalists in creating peace and betterment of the society.

Comrade Rajab disclosed that Yobe State has witnessed so many security challenges especially the issue of Boko Haram, where people were forced to leave their comfort zone. He said with the intervention of the military security challenge has dropped drastically.

The state chairman of the NUJ stressed that the union has a good synergy with the military, stating that the military participated in 2 out of the 5 games during the last Media Games organized by the NUJ in Yobe State. He pleaded that the military should intensify efforts to participate in all the games when such activity is organized again. 

The visit witnessed a presentation of souvenir by the sector commander, sector 2 Joint Task Force, operation Hadin Kai Yobe State, Brigadier-General MCE Ejike to the state chairman of the NUJ , comrade Rajab Mohammed Ismail.
