Yobe Bye-Election: Musa wins Yobe East Senatorial Seat

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Musa Mustapha winner of the just concluded Yobe East senatorial bye-election.
The deputy vice chancellor Administration, Federal University Gashua (FUGA), Ibrahim Ahmed Jajere, who is the Returning Officer of the election, declared Mustapha winner after the counting of votes at the collation centre at federal polytechnic Damaturu on Sunday.
Jajere said the APC candidate polled 68,778 votes to defeat his closest rival, Aji Kolomi, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who had 18,878 votes.
The returning officer stated that, total votes cast were 90,949 with valid votes cast being 88,771 while 2,178 votes were rejected.
“I, Associate Professor Ibrahim Ahmed Jajere hereby certify that I am the Returning Officer for the 2024 Yobe East Senatorial By-election held on February 3th.
“The election was contested and Musa Mustapha of APC polled 68,778,Aji Kolomi of PDP scored,18,878.
“That Musa Mustapha of APC having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared the winner and return elected,” he said.
Mustapha popularly known as Coolers is a former Commissioner of Finance, Transport and Energy in Yobe state replaces Senator Ibrahim Geidam who is currently the Minister of Police Affairs.
